All the experience in usability and software design apply directly to the relatively new field of iOS App development. As an example, the Fairlight App is extremely complex and powerful, and addresses its market niche very well, so is able to attract a premium price. - CMI30A MIDI Keyboard Interface
The CMI 30A is a 30th anniversary recreation of the iconic Fairlight Computer Musical Instrument. One part of this product is a standalone high-quality intelligent MIDI keyboard that can be used independently. The 1980s CMI music keyboard had a numeric keypad and LED display. The 30A keyboard replaces this with an embedded Samsung Galaxy S Android touch screen that can also be used as an X/Y surface controller and to configure the many presets for the keyboard, including zone mapping and velocity mapping and MIDI mapping and routing.
Bisshop Systems developed the native Android App to perform all these functions, including the graphics and communication via USB with the keyboard’s embedded Linux single-board-controller (SBC). This included the ability to download new Android and SBC firmware from the internet via WiFi and install it onto the touch device or SBC.
